Eric Skipper has been Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the University of South Carolina Beaufort since 2016. Areas of focus at USCB have been experiential learning, program development, community engagement, Honors education, internationalization, and promoting interdisciplinarity and use-inspired research. During his time at USCB, the institution has seen exponential increases in experiential learning, student and faculty accolades, and external funding. Previously, Skipper served in administrative roles at the University of North Georgia and the former Gainesville State College.
Skipper’s writing has appeared in Inside Higher Ed, Times Higher Education, University Business, and other publications promoting the need for liberal arts education, experiential learning, and human connectivity in an increasingly digitized world. He is also author of numerous publications on Hispanic literature and culture. Skipper serves on the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education (SC CHE) Transfer and Articulation State Leadership Team, the South Coast Cyber Center Executive Committee, and the Woxsen University (India) School of Arts and Design International Advisory Board, among others.
Skipper holds a B.S. in Management from Georgia Tech and a Ph.D. in Spanish Literature from Florida State University.
