About the SC Association for Higher Continuing Education

The South Carolina Association for Higher Continuing Education (SCAHCE) was constitutionally organized in 1977 by continuing educators representing various institutions of higher education within the state. The major purpose of the Association is to promote and facilitate continuing education and workforce development activities within South Carolina. SCAHCE also aims to effectively and efficiently respond to the needs of students, employers, policy makers, academic institutions and all stakeholders of Higher Continuing Education in the Sate.

Meet the SCAHCE Board

Casey Woodling, Ph.D.

President Elect

Dr. Casey Woodling is Director of Academic Outreach and Continuing Education at Coastal Carolina University in the College of Graduate and Continuing Studies. In this role, Dr. Woodling oversees programs and initiatives that serve nontraditional students, transfer students, adult learners, lifelong learners, and working professionals. The Office of Continuing Studies seeks to build bridges between Coastal Carolina University and the community to provide educational programming that satisfies intellectual, professional, and workforce needs. Dr. Woodling is also a senior lecturer in Philosophy & Religious Studies at Coastal. He also has a background in international education from time as a Peace Corps Volunteer (2007-2009) and Fulbright Scholar (2016-2017) in Madagascar.

Pat Guilbaud, Ph.D., MBA

Past President

Dr. Patrick “Pat” Guilbaud currently serve as the Director of Extended Education / Summer Programs and Associate Professor at Winthrop University. DDr. Guilbaud currently leads the development and rollout of tailored academic and training programs that are focused on helping adult learners strengthen their skills and competencies for success in high demand careers both in the private and public sectors. Dr. Guilbaud’s expertise spans the fields of Human/Professional Development, Operations Management, International Business, Learning Design and Technology, Online Learning, Quality Assurance, and Program Evaluation. Dr. Guilbaud’s research is focused on technology enhanced learning, knowledge acquisition, socio-cultural interactions, and career readiness.

Maggie Honyotski

Treasurer

Maggie Honyotski is the Class Logistics Team Lead of Operations in the Corporate and Continuing Education Division at Midlands Technical College. She joined Midlands Tech in August 2019 in the registration office of Operations and in May 2021 become the Class Logistics Team Lead. She handles agreements for all six program areas in the CCE division; which includes management of the pay of adjunct instructors. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Coastal Carolina University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration at Western Governor University. Her hobbies consist of reading, spending time with family, and playing with her two dogs.

Hilary Dyer Brannon

Secretary

Hilary Dyer Brannon is the director of Continuing Education and Conferences at the University of South Carolina, where she is responsible for noncredit continuing education which includes CEU documentation, conference and event planning services and the administration of pre-university, professional education and personal enrichment programs. During her 15-year career with USC, Hilary has directed some of the most visible university-wide events including University Awards Day, Family Weekend, and New Student Convocation. She also managed the university’s undergraduate recruitment and yield campaigns, served as the primary recruiter for the top scholars programs, and traveled to more than 15 states to represent the university to prospective students. Hilary has received numerous accolades for her work in the community, including the Columbia Chamber’s Young Professional of the Year and The State’s 20 under 40. Hilary earned a Bachelor of Arts (visual communications) and a Master of Mass Communications from USC.

Michelle Futrell

Member-At-Large

Michelle Futrell is the Executive Director of Continuing & Professional Education in the School of Business at the College of Charleston.  In this role, she oversees the Bachelor of Professional Studies degree completion program and all non-credit continuing education offerings. The Office of Continuing & Professional Education seeks to provide education for everyone through partnerships with South Carolina technical colleges, industries across the state, veteran and military connected students, and the community of lifelong learners. The primary goal of the office is to support workforce development in South Carolina while also helping individuals grow intellectually. Ms. Futrell is also a senior instructor in Health & Human Performance, Professional Studies and continuing education. Ms. Futrell is a Gallup certified Strengths Coach and Higher Education Facilitator and loves to help individuals connect with their inherent talents to impact their personal and professional lives.
